Individual Therapy

Jody Simpson providing individual therapy and counselling, supporting clients with anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma in Edmonton and through online sessions across Canada

What Is Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy (sometimes called counselling, talk therapy, or psychotherapy) is a safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with the support of a trained mental health professional. Many people seek therapy to manage challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, or love and relationship issues. Others come to therapy to gain insight, build coping strategies, or make positive changes in their lives.

As your therapist, my goal is to provide an empathetic, non-judgmental environment where you feel heard and understood. Therapy sessions are collaborative- we work together to identify patterns, strengthen your resilience, and move toward the changes you’d like to see.

How Individual Therapy Can Help

Working one-on-one with a therapist can support you in:

  • Managing anxiety, panic, or constant worry

  • Processing depression, grief, or low motivation

  • Healing from trauma or difficult life experiences

  • Improving relationships and communication skills

  • Developing healthy coping strategies for stress and life transitions

  • Building self-esteem and self-compassion

Take the First Step

In-Person and Online Therapy Options

I offer individual therapy both in-person in Edmonton, Alberta, and online across Canada (as a Canadian Certified Counsellor). Virtual sessions allow you to access support from the comfort of your own home, while in-person sessions provide the option of face-to-face connection.

What’s Included

Sessions

Sessions are 50 minutes long. During this time you can expect to share what is going on in your life and to be asked interesting questions which may make you think differently about things.

“Homework”

If you are interested in resources, they will be provided. This may be a book recommendation, documents on a specific topic, podcast suggestions etc... If you are not interested in homework, that is completely up to you, and you can feel comfortable sharing that with your therapist.

Ongoing Sessions

While it is recommended to book your next appointment at the end of your session, you may choose to come weekly, monthly, or at any rate that works for you. Many people will look into their insurance coverage to help them decide what is feasible.
