Because we know that therapy works best when it works with you.

Alberta-Wide Support | Psychology Services

Jody Simpson is a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Alberta.

This means Jody can provide counselling and assessment services across the province, while working under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist to ensure high standards of care.

  • Many extended health benefit plans cover sessions with a Registered Provisional Psychologist, but coverage can vary. It’s always best to check directly with your provider to confirm what’s included under your plan.

  • Your first session is about getting to know you- your goals, challenges, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together, we’ll create a plan that fits your needs, using evidence-based approaches like CBT, EMDR, or mindfulness-based strategies. A one hour session lasts fifty minutes in duration.

When exploring therapy options, it’s helpful to understand the differences
between the most common mental health professionals you may encounter.
We’ve included a helpful guide below for comparison:

In-Person Therapy | Edmonton, Alberta

In-Person Therapy Can Be a Powerful Choice…

It can bring therapeutic connection into a physical space- something that virtual therapy has more difficulty replicating. Here, you can experience the full richness of real-time connection: your body language, expressions, and presence matter. That deepens trust and creates a grounded sense of safety.

Coming to a therapy room also means fewer distractions. Your environment is protected and intentional- no notifications, household interruptions, or digital noise. This structured routine, supported by the ritual of traveling to a designated space, can help you mentally prepare, stay present, and feel fully supported as you explore growth and healing.

  • Individuals navigating trauma, grief, or anxiety who benefit from physical presence

  • Clients with sensory needs or who find screens mentally fatiguing

  • Anyone seeking intentional self-care, clear boundaries, and a dedicated mental-health space

In-person therapy works especially well for:

In-Person Therapy is a great option, as it offers…

Stronger Connection

When sitting across from a therapist, you engage in a shared physical space where nonverbal cues like body language, eye contact, and facial expressions strengthen communication.

This presence fosters a deeper sense of trust and safety, essential for meaningful therapeutic work.

Structure & Routine

Arriving at the office, you have a quiet, private space dedicated to your session, free from everyday distractions. The routine includes regular check-ins with your therapist, allowing for ongoing progress and support.

Having to physically travel to sessions can also help you mentally prepare and transition into a focused mindset. This structure often encourages accountability, making it easier to prioritize your mental health.

Less Distractions

Participating in in-person therapy offers a valuable opportunity to minimize distractions that can hinder the therapeutic process.

When attending sessions face-to-face, the environment is controlled and dedicated solely to your well-being, allowing you to focus fully on the conversation with your therapist.

Virtual Therapy | Alberta-Wide

Safe, Reliable Counselling Available at Your Fingertips.

Virtual therapy (sometimes called online counselling or telehealth) allows you to meet with a therapist from the comfort of your own home, or wherever you feel most at ease. For many clients, online therapy makes it easier to access support without the commute, traffic, or need to rearrange an already busy schedule.

Virtual sessions are secure, confidential, and just as effective as in-person therapy. Research shows that online counselling works well for many concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, and relationship challenges.

  • Live in a rural or remote area with limited access to therapy

  • Work shift hours or irregular schedules that make in-person sessions difficult

  • Prefer the privacy of meeting from your own space

  • Have mobility or health challenges that make travel harder

  • Want the convenience of logging in from anywhere in Alberta

Virtual counselling may be a good fit if you:

In my practice, I strive to make virtual sessions feel as comfortable and personal as sitting together in an office. We’ll use secure video software that is simple to access, and you can choose whether to connect by computer, tablet, or phone.

Does this feel like the right fit for you?

Virtual therapy is flexible, secure, and accessible from the comfort of your own space. Whether you’re in Edmonton or anywhere in Canada, support is just a click away.

This can be a great option, as Virtual Therapy is….

Accessibile

For those living in rural or remote areas, there may be a lack of therapist availability, or concerns about confidentiality. Teletherapy is also great for those with limited transportation options or for those who work away.

Convenient

Life can be busy, and many people appreciate the ease of virtual therapy. As long as the session is set in a safe, private place, free from distraction, therapy can happen anywhere (within the therapist’s scope of jurisdiction).

Comfortable

It can be anxiety-inducing to attend therapy in general, let alone in person, and some may feel more comfortable participating in their own homes.
