Healthy Expression of Grief and Sorrow

The sorrow which has no vent in tears may make other organs weep
-Henry Maudsley, 1895
Sitting in grief and sorrow can be excruciating, and we often want to push the fast-forward button to get through this period of life. If we bottle these feelings up inside ourselves, they will undoubtedly be expressed in other ways, and at times, that is not ideal. Failing to acknowledge these feelings can also cause other physical problems inside our bodies.
Stress manifests emotionally through fatigue, overwhelm, exhaustion, inability to concentrate, feeling angry or teary, and even memory issues (Marks & King, 2024). Alternatively, stress also presents physically through stomach issues, headaches, fatigue, body pain and tightness, decreased libido, and even getting sick more often (Marks & King, 2024).
This is your reminder that you are not weak for having feelings and emotions. You are completely valid in feeling this way. Life is hard sometimes. Recognizing our feelings can be uncomfortable, but it is an important part of life and our human experience.
Yours always in authenticity,
Jody
