Have you gone undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for years? Have you struggled with your pain management? If you are living with an auto-immune disease it can be extremely challenging for others to understand that while you "look okay", you are impacted everyday. EMDR is an evidence based therapy that can also be utilized as part of a treatment plan for chronic pain.

Living with depression can make you feel hopeless, and worthless. Sometimes it sneaks up on you, and you may not even remember when you started feeling unlike yourself. There are many treatment options available for depression, including EMDR.

Dissociation is often a symptom of traumatic events and can feel very scary. This is our bodies way of protecting us from overwhelming experiences that are "too much, or too fast". While this protection can be helpful, it might not be serving us any longer. There are three different dissociative disorders, and wide ranges of symptoms in between. Jody has specialized training in trauma and dissociation and can support you through this.

Are you tired of using unhealthy coping skills like substance use, or anger? Do you find it hard to adapt to unexpected events? If you are having trouble regulating your emotions, therapy can help. By looking at patterns and taking a look at the feelings beneath our emotions we can start to change our habits. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT tools will likely be used, and focusing on the mind body connection can also be helpful.

First Responders and Military members or Public Safety Personnel (PSP) experience more traumatic incidents than the general public, due to the very nature of their work. Firefighters, Active Military and Veterans, Correctional Officers, Police/Sheriff/Peace Officers, Paramedics, Nurses, and Emergency Dispatch Operators are all apart of their own unique cultures. Having a therapist with specialized training, an understanding of these professions and the trauma that impacts them is integral.
-
Did you know that grief takes many forms? Grief can be felt in the passing of our loved ones, our beloved pets, and even those we are estranged from. We can also feel grief with life transitions such as the end of a career or relationship, and moving. There can even be a mourning period for changes like pregnancy- it is normal and okay to be both excited for the future and grieve our old lives. Counselling can support you through the process of grief.

No-one is exempt from trauma, and it can happen to anyone. Many people mistake trauma for only being the "big things" like war, violence, physical or sexual abuse, accidents, or natural disasters. Many other events can be considered traumatic such as divorce, infidelity, betrayal of any kind, or even financial issues. As a trauma-informed therapist, Jody is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is an evidence based trauma-treatment that can help you heal. For more information on trauma, check out Jody's blog.
